In the M.F. Shmyrev State Vocational Polytechnic College of Mechanical Engineering, energy-saving technologies developed with a UNDP grant are being implemented

Innovative approaches in energy saving, the role of educational institutions in implementing tasks in this area were discussed at a conference at the Vitebsk State Vocational and Technical College of Mechanical Engineering named after M.F. Shmyrev. The event was attended by representatives of the administrations of schools and gymnasiums of Vitebsk, regional and city departments of education, sports and tourism, and the Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education.

For the guests, an exhibition of technical and artistic creativity of teachers and students of the college, and methodological materials on resource conservation issues was prepared. Also, in the foyer, a stand was presented demonstrating the energy saving system of a residential building. Many of the developments shown on it have already been implemented at the College of Mechanical Engineering, which is carrying out a project initiative of the UNDP international energy saving program and has won a grant of 660 thousand dollars.

The director of the college, Tatyana Trushyanina, told the attendees how the educational institution managed to achieve such results. She described in detail the algorithm for submitting applications for such competitions and explained the importance of participating in such initiatives to attract extra-budgetary funds.

— But today we are not only sharing our experience in energy saving with colleagues, — explained Tamara Ivanovna. — In recent years, the number of applicants wishing to obtain a working profession has been decreasing. We want to show by our example that studying at college is no less prestigious. For example, in our educational institution, we focus on the integration of professions. Therefore, graduates are mobile, can prove themselves in various fields, and adapt to the changing economic situation in the country. Later, they can continue their education in secondary vocational and higher education institutions. Having gone through all three stages, they become true professionals in their field, as they are able to control the production process from beginning to end. Such personnel are invaluable at all times.
