Two modern laboratories for students have been opened at VSU
These modern spaces have started operating at the faculties of chemical, biological and geographical sciences, and mathematics and information technologies. The Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of VSU, Yevgeny Arshansky, said that the laboratory of the Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems will allow for the creation of smart devices. University students have repeatedly engaged in this area and have experience in implementing similar projects. One of them became the winner of the "100 Ideas for Belarus" competition. It is a multifunctional cane for the elderly and those in need.
"The laboratory is also important in connection with the opening of a new specialty at the faculty, "Information Systems and Technologies (in Healthcare)," as it will allow for the training of future IT medical professionals. Students will be taught disciplines not only related to informatization and the use of modern information technologies but also a cycle of special natural science subjects. Such specialists will be in demand in the labor market in the Hi-Tech Park and in healthcare institutions. This is the first laboratory of its kind in the Vitebsk region," noted Yevgeny Arshansky.
The second laboratory, IT technologies and chemistry teaching methods, is no less interesting. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it will allow combining real experiments with the use of virtual technologies (in particular, VR glasses). "It is especially important that the laboratory will allow all this to be implemented not only in scientific research but also in the educational process. It is open for the training of students, pupils of schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, and practicing teachers will be able to improve their qualifications here. The prospects for the development of such university spaces are huge," added the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work.
These days, Vitebsk State University is celebrating its 110th anniversary; the university is one of the oldest educational institutions in Belarus. The celebrations are taking place from May 12 to 15. Today, a branch of the UNESCO department and a gallery of rectors were opened at the university. The celebration will conclude in the assembly hall with the honoring of teachers and a concert program.
