The world's only double-sided myrrh-streaming icon has been brought to Vitebsk

The Lokot icon of the Most Holy Theotokos "Tenderness" is in the Holy Trinity Markov Monastery of Vitebsk until September 6, the local Orthodox diocese reported. This is the world's only double-sided miraculous myrrh-streaming icon.

The icon was brought from the village of Lokot, Bryansk region. This image of the Mother of God is known for its unusual history: a local resident cut it out of a regular wall calendar, and a few years later, in 1999, it began to exude myrrh – aromatic oil appeared on it.

It is also unique that the face of the Mother of God appeared on the other side of the calendar as well. A double-sided riza was made for the icon, and on the reverse side, it follows the pattern of the manifested image.

The Lokot icon has become famous for many miracles and healings. However, priests explain that this can only happen through prayer with faith.
