at the XXXI World Trampoline Championships, which ended at the end of November in Odense, Denmark, Vitebsk athletes won a dozen medals of various denominations. Vladislav Goncharov and Anna Gorchenok managed to qualify for the main starts of the four-year period in Rio de Janeiro.Vladislav took second place in both the individual competition and synchronized jumps. The trampolinist admitted that after the successful performance of the Russian athlete, he did not expect to win silver, but due to the height and complexity of the program, he achieved a good result.
– And in synchronized jumps, much depended on Nikolai Kazak, it was convenient for me to adjust to him, – said Vladislav Goncharov.
In the women's tournament, Anna Gorchenok showed the sixth result, and her duet with Tatyana Petrenya brought another silver medal to the team's piggy bank. In addition, Vitebsk athletes Maria Lon, Polina Badygina and Oleg Ryabtsev won medals in team competitions. The overall success allowed the Belarusians to take fifth place in the team standings.
Such achievements are the result of the joint work not only of the trampolinists themselves, but also of their coaches Olga Vlasova, Vasily Shulikin, Svetlana Pashkovskaya, who motivated their trainees: the technique of performing jumps must always be at its best, regardless of the significance of the competition.
There is not much time left until the Summer Olympics, so athletes have no time to rest on their laurels. They need to work to prepare for the main competitions.
– Of course, they are great! The Vitebsk trampoline school has once again proved that it is one of the leaders in the world, and this is very pleasing, – noted Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Terentyev, promising to continue to do everything possible to ensure that the athletes also perform with dignity in 2016, especially at the Olympics.
After the congratulations, the athletes and their coaches, together with Vladimir Vladimirovich, summed up the results and discussed what else is required from the authorities to support the team. By the way, more than 1.8 billion rubles were allocated from the regional budget in 2015 for the preparation of athletes for the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. These funds are used to purchase necessary equipment and supplies, conduct training camps, organize medical support and participation in international competitions, and pay monetary rewards for worthy results. In particular, 21 candidates for the trip to Rio receive a personal scholarship from the regional executive committee monthly based on the results of world and European championships.
Another 7 athletes from the region have been admitted to participate in the 2016 Olympics
, provided they are included in the delegation.
