In Vitebsk, finalists of republican subject Olympiads were honored
– The olympiad movement in the region is on the rise, – noted Vladimir Vladimirovich. – In recent years, we have shown stable progress in results. We are very pleased with the philologists, and the mathematicians are magnificent. The secret to our children's success lies in the tremendous work of teachers and university lecturers who help them prepare for the final stage of the olympiad. The authorities always support the students and mentors; significant funds are allocated to educational institutions that nurture olympiad participants.
216 representatives from Vitebsk and the Vitebsk region participated in the intellectual competitions for schoolchildren. Our team took fourth place in the republic.
The majority of the winners are traditionally from gymnasiums – 61. Vitebsk gymnasiums №8 and №2 are leading (14 diplomas each). The most winners were prepared by Vitebsk teachers Veronika Laktina (computer science teacher at gymnasiums №№1, 2, 8) and Mikhail Volkov (coach at gymnasium №8) – 9 winners each. An undisputed veteran of the olympiad movement, not only in the region but also in the republic, is mathematician Mikhail Volkov. He has already coached 200 (!) finalists.
– The secret to such results is simple, – explains the teacher. – You need to love your work, love children, and constantly develop. I also started from humble beginnings.
However, the success of children and teachers also depends on the administration of educational institutions. This is the conviction of the director of Vitebsk gymnasium №2, Konstantin Kiselev.
– We have 14 diplomas in eight subjects. Few in the republic can boast such versatility, – he says. – My task as a leader is not to interfere with talented teachers working, but to create comfortable conditions for these people devoted to their profession.
