In Vitebsk, the staff of the regional clinical hospital was honored on the occasion of the medical institution's 85th anniversary

В Витебске чествовали коллектив областной клинической больницы по случаю 85-летия медучреждения
The round date fell in December 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic forced the staff involved in assisting patients with COVID-19 to postpone the celebrations. And only recently the medics were honored, albeit in a limited format and taking into account the epidemiological situation.

Five doctors were awarded the badge of honor "Excellent Healthcare Worker". Many employees received certificates of honor, commendations from the Ministry of Health of Belarus, the regional health department, the regional executive committee, the administration of the Pervomaisky district of Vitebsk, and the industry trade union. A number of employees were awarded certificates of honor from the Belarusian Peace Foundation for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

No one at the hospital was left without attention. In addition to representatives of the hospital administration and doctors, nurses, junior medical staff, drivers, and other employees of the healthcare institution were honored. All of them are part of a unified team, united by many years of joint work and the desire to help people.

Among those who have dedicated practically their entire professional lives to the regional hospital is Stanislav Ogrizko. He worked here for over 40 years, including more than 15 years as deputy chief physician for medical affairs, a position he held until recently. Despite his venerable age and the pandemic, he remains in the ranks of his colleagues, but now as a therapist.

– First, I came to the outpatient clinic. Then a new hospital building was constructed, and the departments of gastroenterology, rheumatology, and pulmonology were opened, the latter of which I headed. All three heads were practically the same age, young, and learned a lot together, – recalls Stanislav Viktorovich. – All these years, I have observed the active development of the hospital, including the mastery of cardiology, vascular, endovascular surgery, hip and knee joint replacement, and neurosurgery. New methods were also introduced in the therapeutic departments. It is gratifying that today many advanced technologies used in republican scientific and practical centers are also used here.

By the way, the current head of the main department for healthcare of the regional executive committee, Mikhail Vishnevetsky, also had the opportunity to work at the regional hospital at one time. Although for an insignificant period, he knows a large part of the staff by sight.

– The regional hospital is the flagship of healthcare in the Vitebsk region; it is a multidisciplinary institution, and it houses the largest number of departments of the Vitebsk State Medical University. All tasks set for the institution today are fully accomplished. If there is a need to lend a hand, the regional hospital is at the forefront. I am glad that people dedicated to their team and profession work here, – emphasized Mikhail Leontievich.

Annually, the staff of the regional hospital provides professional medical care to about 35 thousand patients from all over the region, including high-tech and specialized care. Approximately 14 thousand operations are performed.

– Behind every operation is the fate of a person, a family. Thank you for doing your job professionally and with high quality. I wish the institution further development and new departments, – addressed the medical staff the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Belous, and wished them health during this challenging period.

According to Andrey Andryushkin, chief physician of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital, the institution's plans for the first quarter of this year include the installation of a digital X-ray machine with three workstations and a new computed tomography scanner.

The regional hospital also serves as a kind of scientific and practical center and a training ground for personnel. The institution hosts 16 clinical departments of VGMU. Thanks to close cooperation between scientists and practicing physicians, new methods for diagnosing and treating various diseases are developed and successfully implemented. The team's contribution to training students is invaluable; future doctors have the opportunity to observe their senior colleagues at work and gain professional experience.
