Vitebsk honored the best economists of state bodies and enterprises of the region

В Витебске чествовали лучших экономистов государственных органов и предприятий региона
The best economists of state bodies and enterprises of the Vitebsk region were honored at the regional executive committee on their professional holiday – Economist Day. The economic department, initially in 1920, was founded in the young Soviet state as a new type of state institution for managing the national economy of the country as one large factory. Over more than a century of development, Belarus has turned into a powerful industrially developed power. The successes of both Soviet and independent Belarus are undeniable merit of economic bodies, including the Vitebsk region.

– You don't just count numbers or compile reports, – noted the chairman of the regional executive committee Alexander Subbotin, greeting the participants of the celebration. – The direction of development of the enterprise, industry, and the country as a whole depends on you. Economists are responsible for the development strategy, and their work is one of the most intellectual and necessary.

For the elapsed period of 2023, the region showed growth compared to January-May 2022 in industrial production, agricultural production in agricultural organizations, construction and installation work, wholesale and retail trade turnover, public catering turnover, freight and passenger turnover, and exports of goods and services. Investments in fixed assets and total revenues of the consolidated regional budget have increased.
The real sector of the economy is working effectively: profit from the sale of products, goods, works, and services increased by 4.6 times in the region, sales profitability increased to 6.8% in January-April, and a net profit of 250 million rubles was received. Costs per unit of manufactured products and import intensity have decreased.

Production volumes in the manufacturing industry have increased. Production of televisions, electrical wires and capacitors, metal-cutting machine tools, metal building structures, fabrics, and whole milk products has grown. More than a third of the products sold are innovative. This is the best result in the republic.

Active work is underway to master new types of import-substituting products for the domestic market and for cooperation with Russian companies. For example, OAO "Evistor Plant" has mastered the production of components for OOO "Rostselmash Combine Plant"; OOO "Yuzhen" – small-sized measuring transformers for the Sverdlovsk Transformer Plant; OAO "Krasny Borets" – metalworking machines; OAO "Vityaz" – electric heating boilers for individual use.

147 production and 124 infrastructure projects are being implemented in the region. By the end of the year, 57 production projects will be completed, mainly through the organizations' own funds, and 68 infrastructure projects.
Within the framework of the "One District – One Project" initiative, 24 projects are being implemented, of which seven will be completed this year. A pig breeding complex near the village of Goryany in the Orshansky district has already been commissioned, a feed mill of OAO "Agrokombinat Yubileiny" has been put into operation, the construction of a delayed coking unit for oil residues at OAO "Naftan" has been completed, furniture production has been created in the Postavsky district, and a workshop for milk processing and cheese production has been built in Gorodok. The implementation of projects in the region's districts continues: for the production of oils and lubricants – in Gluboksky, food flavorings – in Beshenkovichsky, garment production – in Dokshitsky, cross-laminated panels – in Tolochinsky, protein-vitamin supplements – in Ushachsky, juices and nectars – in Sharkovshchinsky districts.

Congratulating her colleagues, Deputy Chairperson of the Regional Executive Committee Anzhelika Nikitina proudly noted that the northern region leads the republic in some positions, and this is due to the economists who fully fulfill the tasks set before them. Behind every analytical table and promising solution is the work of the economic service, and more than 30,000 people are employed in this sector in the region.

The many years of diligent work and personal contribution to the socio-economic development of the 15 best economists of state bodies and enterprises of Vitebsk region were celebrated in a solemn ceremony. Thus, Alexander Subbotin presented Certificates of Honor of the Ministry of Economy to Taisiya Baglay, First Deputy Head of the Administration of Pervomaisky District of Vitebsk, and Olga Martynova, Head of the Department of Economy and Industrial Development of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee; Certificates of Honor of the Regional Executive Committee were awarded to Svetlana Smétannikova, Chief Economist of KPUP "Konditerskaya fabrika "Vitba", and Svetlana Yasyukovich, Head of the Planning Department of OAO "Invet".

– The work of an economist often remains invisible, but it is very important in modern realities. The achievement of socio-economic development indicators for enterprises and regions as a whole is not an empty phrase for us. Behind it lies a huge amount of work, – admitted Tatyana Voronko, Deputy Chairperson of the Gorodok District Executive Committee for Economy, who was awarded a letter of gratitude from the Minister of Economy of Belarus. – Therefore, on the day of the professional holiday, it is very pleasant that our contribution to the common well-being is noticed and recognized.
