In Vitebsk, the winners of the "Civil Courage" campaign were honored
The brave deeds of five residents of the Vitebsk region were recognized with diplomas and commemorative gifts. Ivan Gamzyuk, son of Alexey Gamzyuk, head of the labor, employment, and social protection department of the Gorodok District Executive Committee, won in the "Youngest Defender of Law and Order" nomination. The 11th-grade student of Secondary School No. 2 in Gorodok and a cadet of the "Vityaz" military-patriotic club based at military unit 5524 of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs discovered a bleeding man on the roadside at the end of summer. Without panicking, the young man stopped the bleeding, called an ambulance, and the police. Shortly after, finding two more women with stab wounds in a nearby house, the young man remained calm and also provided them with first aid. According to Ivan, his knowledge of medical training, which is taught rigorously at "Vityaz," helped him in this situation.
Alexey Goncharov was awarded a diploma "For Courage and Determination." In May 2024, as he was leaving a hypermarket, he detained a thief who had stolen an expensive bottle of alcohol and was attempting to escape.
Vasily Matsulevich was recognized as the best in the "For Indifference" nomination for finding and returning a lost briefcase containing a large sum of money to the director of one of Orsha's enterprises.
Vladimir Girs and Igor Kudryashov were noted in the "For Promptness" nomination. Vladimir prevented the actions of phone scammers who were trying to extort money from his 84-year-old mother by deception and detained the courier who came to collect the funds from the pensioner. Thanks to the vigilance of Igor Kudryashov, officers of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs detained a Moscow resident who was planting packages with an especially dangerous psychotropic substance – alpha-PVP. During the search, a particularly large quantity of the narcotic substance was found on the criminal. As a result, the criminal was detained and received a strict punishment.
– The "Civil Courage" campaign is being held in the Vitebsk region for the 17th time. Here we honor people who have shown indifference to the misfortune of others, provided first aid, stopped a crime, and helped law enforcement officers detain lawbreakers. It is a great honor for us to award those who do not wear epaulets, but are a vivid representative of civil society and in a critical moment think not of themselves, but of others, – emphasized the Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Executive Committee, Major General of Militia Andrey Lyubimov.
