In Vitebsk, elevators that have served for more than 35 years are being replaced

Despite an obvious shortage of funds for the upgrade of outdated elevators, OAO "Vitebskliift" intends to allocate 6 billion rubles for this purpose within the current year.

As stated by the enterprise's director, Ivan Radkevich, this amount is sufficient for the replacement of 16 passenger lifting mechanisms, with another five to be carried over to the next year. "Vitebskliift," whose area of responsibility also includes other cities in the region, currently services 3,000 elevators. Mechanisms that are intensively used are supposed to be replaced after 25 years of service. Currently, those that have been in operation for over 35 years are being upgraded. The remaining fleet with extended service life undergoes constant diagnostics by specialized organizations, which grant permission for three-year operation. The maintenance of elevators in working condition by the enterprise's specialists ensures this service for the residents of multi-story buildings.
