Vitebsk Names Best Student Teams of the 2017 Labor Semester
Indeed, this year's figures are lower compared to the previous year (more than 5,000 students and pupils had the opportunity to earn extra money, while in 2016 there were about 9,000), but the decrease occurred nationwide, and our region ranks second in terms of student team participants.
Moreover, as rightly noted by Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, behind each figure stands an individual young person who was employed, worked in a medical, construction, pedagogical, or environmental team, contributed to the Motherland, and earned money.
– Sincere words of gratitude from me and from Nikolai Nikolaevich Sherstnev, Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, with whom we discussed the student team movement, its challenges, and victories. It is very gratifying that year after year our construction teams from PSU are recognized as the best, and that we represent ourselves with dignity at the youth construction of the nuclear power plant, and beyond our country's borders, – said Vladimir Vladimirovich. – Next year, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Komsomol. It is wonderful that this excellent tradition, which originated in the Komsomol, lives on and allows us to educate youth on the basis of labor.
This is thanks to the organizers of the labor semester: heads of educational institutions, employers who, in challenging economic conditions, find opportunities to provide young people with jobs, the participants of the teams themselves, and the headquarters of labor affairs.
Government bodies value the contribution of the younger generation to solving the region's vital issues, whether it be harvesting crops, cleaning up forests, organizing work in children's health camps, assisting in construction, hospitals, or other areas where youth can lend a hand.
Evidence of this is the awards given to the best by the regional executive committee and the regional Council of Deputies, the departments of education and healthcare, the committee for agriculture and food, and the Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association.
As emphasized by Viktor Glushin, the first secretary of the regional committee of the BRSM, the young people who worked in student detachments have proven themselves in the best possible way, distinguishing themselves by their diligence, responsibility, and initiative.
He thanked for the support of the student detachment movement in the region, which is one of the main areas of activity for the youth organization. For young people, such an opportunity is indeed very important.
The majority of awards from the regional headquarters, which coordinates and supervises the activities of student detachments, were taken by Polotsk district this year. It boasts the best pedagogical detachment of the Vitebsk region ("Izumrudny"), agricultural detachment ("Zolotoy Kolos - 1"), ecological detachment (of the economic college), medical detachment (of the college named after Hero of the Soviet Union Z. Tusnolobova-Marchenko), as well as a detachment working at the regional youth construction project (construction detachment "Agrarochka" of the economic college).
The best construction detachment was recognized as "Udarik" of the Railway Headquarters of Labor Affairs of the city of Vitebsk, and the service detachment was "Kometa" of the Industrial-Pedagogical College of VSTU. At the All-Belarusian Youth Construction Project – BelNPP – the construction detachments "Evrika" and "Zodchiye" (PSU) of the Novopolotsk Headquarters of Labor Affairs worked with great success.
Compared to other regions, the Vitebsk region organized the largest number of mobile detachments. Among those who worked outside of Belarus were the construction squad "Yermak" named after I. Bagramyan and the pedagogical "New Leader Squad+" named after M. Shmyrev, formed by the regional headquarters of labor affairs.
The names of the best commanders and commissars of student detachments, the best labor affairs headquarters, as well as organizations that employ young people have been announced. This year, the agricultural branch "Teplichny" of RUP "Vitebskenergo" (Orsha district) and the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee were recognized as such.
The awards have been distributed, and there is an opportunity to rest a little and gain strength before the next labor semester – a time of new achievements.
