The winner of the regional stage of the "Student of the Year-2021" competition was named in Vitebsk
The best student among the universities of the northern region was chosen today in Vitebsk. The competition, which has long been a flagship event of the BRSM, was hospitably hosted by the assembly hall of the Vitebsk State Technological University.
On its main stage, participants from the Vitebsk State Technological University, Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, Vitebsk State Medical University, Vitebsk Branch of the International University "MITSO", as well as Polotsk State University demonstrated their oratorical skills and creative talents. Seven outstanding students from these universities competed for the right to represent the region in the final in Minsk. Welcoming the participants, Vladimir Babichev, First Secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM, stated:
– The level of the competition is growing every year. Its participants are talented and purposeful individuals who always move forward. Our project often becomes a springboard for them, a kind of launchpad to success. This year, the jury will have a very difficult task. Choosing the best among the best is a challenging task, as our contestants are BRSM activists, gifted students, winners of international competitions and festivals, prize-winners and scholarship holders of presidential funds, and individuals with a strong life stance…
The fairness of these words was proven by the very first competitive event – the introduction. And the first to introduce herself was Olga Kasevich, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Finance and Economics of PSU. The young woman is a scholarship holder of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus, a participant in the student club of hosts "Konferans" and the student information and service bureau, and the chairperson of the Scientific Council of her faculty. The self-presentation by Andrey Krotov, a third-year student of VSU named after P.M. Masherov, was very touching. A real theatrical performance unfolded on stage, with which the young man knocked on the hearts of the audience with a simple but important thought: do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, it is much scarier to lose your guiding light. Andrey is a future historian, a student of the Faculty of Humanities and Language Communications, a member of the University Council and the Student Council, as well as the "Masherovtsy" leadership school. Andrey Molotovnik, a namesake of Krotov, suggested listening to one's inner voice. He is a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Chemical, Biological, and Geographical Sciences at VSU, and a winner of the republican competition of research-based works in academic subjects. He is also included in the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of gifted students.
Anna Ivanova, a second-year student of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at VSTU, introduced herself with a cheerful song. This charming blonde is a laureate and prize-winner of international competitions and festivals, and she inspires others with her optimism and energy.
Future pharmacist, third-year student of VGMU Viktoria Shamko decided to take the stage with several pairs of shoes – from cute baby booties and worn-out sneakers to elegant stiletto heels. This is a moment of philosophy. With this, Vika recalled: "Before you speak about a person, take their shoes and walk their path." The contestant is a volunteer of the "Kind Heart" detachment, the chairperson of the faculty student council and the council of dormitory No. 3.
The presentation of Daniil Zhuria, a 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Information Technologies of PSU, would have pleased all fans of the Marvel universe. A prize-winner of international competitions as part of the "Dancemix" pop dance studio, an athlete, and a volunteer, he told about himself using… the Infinity Gauntlet. Only in Daniil's version, it turned into a golden accessory for "Student of the Year-2021".
Vladlena Bayandina, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Humanities of MITSO, introduced everyone to her place of power. Who would have thought that this elegant, fragile girl is the winner of 1st place in the Championship of Belarus in Sport Karate!
The second stage of the competition was dedicated to the participants choosing their future profession. The participants managed to present this rather standard topic creatively. For example, Olga Kasevich dispelled three main myths about financiers. Anna Ivanova, with fire in her eyes, spoke about an economist as the captain of a fast-moving ship, and Vladlena Bayandina appeared on stage dressed as the goddess Themis, armed with a sharp sword.
The most spectacular stage was the final one – the creative performance. To the warm applause of the audience, the contestants sang, danced, and played electric guitars – in short, they gave their all. It was certainly not easy for the judges to sum up the results of the competition. As a result, third place went to VSUM student Victoria Shamko, second place to Andrey Krotov from VSU, and the victory was won by the beautiful and intelligent Anna Ivanova from VSTU. She dedicates her brilliant victory to the staff of her home university, her parents, and everyone who supported her. Special words of gratitude go to my inspiring teacher Alesya Anatolyevna Chislova, the young woman shared:
