Vitebsk discussed the program of events for City Day

В Витебске обсудили программу мероприятий ко Дню города
In just a week, Vitebsk will be immersed in a festive atmosphere. What awaits the guests and residents of the regional center? What interesting projects have the organizers prepared for the 1050th anniversary and the 80th anniversary of the city's liberation from the Nazi invaders? This and much more was discussed at a press conference at the Vitebsk Region Media Center.

Venues for every taste

– The event plan is quite extensive. Both residential areas and parks will be involved in the celebration, so that every resident and guest can find an event to their liking, – emphasized Viktor Glushin, Deputy Chairman of the City Executive Committee. – Vitebsk was liberated on June 26. In connection with this memorable date, a two-hour memorial concert "The Feat of the Soviet People is Immortal" will take place on Victory Square at 9:00 PM with the participation of creative groups from the city, the P. Miloslavov Volga Russian Folk Choir, and others. On the same day, the fountains on Victory Square will officially start operating. Organizations are also preparing their gifts for the city. For example, a special envelope and stamp, prepared by "Belpochta" for Vitebsk's anniversary, will be cancelled.

Follow the poster

– For four days, the central streets of the city will turn into a large-scale open-air exhibition-fair of artisans and artists, showcasing our traditions and Belarusian cuisine. Each museum-type institution has prepared its own exhibition projects and expositions. Frunze Park, Soviet Army Park, Victory Park, and 1000th Anniversary Park, where cultural, entertainment, and health programs will be held, will attract their visitors. The entire program concisely reflects our campaigns and events that began long "before." It is gratifying that all institutions are united in their desire to congratulate Vitebsk on its birthday, – noted Natalia Shienok, Head of the Culture Department of the City Executive Committee. – Several festivals will be held during and on the eve of the celebration: "Princess Olga's Cup," "PhotoKrok," and for the second year in a row, the historical reconstruction festival "Ploskaya Gora" in Soviet Army Park. Partisan Cup and Catamaran Race

Some of them have already started this weekend, – emphasized the Head of the Sports and Tourism Department of the City Executive Committee, Sergey Voronov. – Extreme sports enthusiasts can attend the final of the Belarusian Parachuting Championship and motorcycle stunt riding competitions, which will be held in Bilevo. In addition to beach football and volleyball competitions, the "Partisan Cup" will be held for the first time, and for people with disabilities – the traditional sports fishing tournament. For the first time, we will hold catamaran racing competitions in the floodplains of the Vitba River. History and local lore enthusiasts will be offered free introductory tours as part of the annual campaign "Dedicated to Our Beloved City," for example, you can learn how the 1000th anniversary was celebrated and what has changed in the city over 50 years.

And a souvenir to remember

– In addition to the operation of stationary public catering facilities, mobile trade will be organized. The main location – the presentation of national cuisines of Belarus – will be presented on Tolstoy Street (about five entities from Vitebsk, Polotsk, Minsk) and Pushkin Street, – noted the Head of the Trade and Services Department of the City Executive Committee, Tatyana Prokopenko. – Additional trade entities will operate on Lenin Street near the Millennium Bridge and on Freedom Square. The entire pedestrian area in the old part of the city will also be used for selling souvenir products. Everyone will be able to not only eat, listen to music, but also purchase something as a gift or a souvenir. Although we are in the final stretch, work in this direction continues.

A gift from the youth

– June 30 has been declared Youth Day. We have prepared many interesting projects and events for the active and energetic, – said the first secretary of the city committee of the BRSM, Alexander Byshyov. – Interactive platforms will be open throughout the day. From 13:30, participants of the regional tour of the national festival-competition "Fire of Youth Talents" will "light up" the center of Vitebsk, and the names of the winners will be announced at the gala concert. A bike race with awards for participants and strongman competitions on Victory Square will also take place. At 22:00, everyone is invited to a youth party. In addition, in the evening, we will present a gift to our beloved city. What it is – we will keep it a secret for now.

Badges with a city map
