Vitebsk names best first aid teams

On June 12, the annual city competitions were held in the Soviet Army Park, which represent the highest form of assessment of the readiness of facility-based medical units based on their performance over the year.

The history of these competitions dates back to the 1960s. In Vitebsk, their organization was resumed in 2008.

The competitions allowed for an analysis of the level of readiness to eliminate the consequences of emergency situations, to outline ways to improve such readiness, and to emphasize the importance of civil defense measures aimed at protecting people.

The most prepared sanitary squads from industrial facilities and educational institutions of the city participated in the competitions to exchange experience.

The competitions consisted of four stages. The teams demonstrated their readiness in working within a zone of chemical and combined damage, as well as in a zone of infectious disease. The inspection of standard equipment and the ability of sanitary squad personnel to use standard property items also did not go unnoticed. Identifying patients and taking measures for their temporary isolation, collecting samples of water, air, soil, and food products, preparing disinfectant solutions, and disinfecting items in a disinfection chamber – all these activities were carried out at a high level by every single team without exception.

In a hard-fought competition, the team of UP "Vitebskvodokanal" won, the second place was taken by the team of OJSC "Dolomit", the third place by the team of OJSC "Moloko" of Vitebsk. The subsequent places were distributed as follows: OJSC "VZEP", UO "VGAVM", Vitebsk Railway Division, OJSC "Vitebsk Meat Packing Plant", UO "VGPU" named after P.M. Masherov.
