В Витебске осваивают фиштерапию

Fish therapy is being mastered in Vitebsk. The new procedure will become available at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Dermatovenerological Dispensary in the first quarter. The chief physician of this medical institution, Viktor Spiridonov, informed a BELTA correspondent about this.

The dispensary has held negotiations on the acquisition of a school of 300 special Garra Rufa fish of the carp family. The procedure will be carried out in a 200-liter aquarium under the supervision of specialists. However, in this case, the fish themselves will act as doctors, gently cleaning the skin from the non-living surface layer of cells. They have no teeth, so they cannot affect firm, healthy cells. During the procedure, a person experiences pleasant sensations of a light massage and tingling. During the peeling, droplets of Garra Rufa saliva remain on the treated skin areas, the enzymes of which promote skin regeneration and restoration, have a sedative, disinfecting, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic effect. Due to this, the procedure is indicated for people suffering from eczema, dermatitis, and other skin diseases, Viktor Spiridonov said.

Fish therapy is actively used in Eastern medicine, the chief physician added, expressing confidence that Vitebsk residents will also appreciate the novelty of the dispensary.
