The exhibition 'Miraculous Diveyevo' will open in Vitebsk
The exhibition "Miraculous Diveyevo," dedicated to the past and present of the Seraphim-Diveyevo Monastery (Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia), will open on May 10 at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Vitebsk (Krylov St., 9).
The history of the monastic cloister began in 1760 when Agathia Semyonovna Melgunova, the widow of a colonel, stopped to rest at a church in the village of Diveyevo on her way from Kyiv to Sarov. Here, in a dream, she was visited by the Most Holy Theotokos, who instructed her to stay in Diveyevo forever, build a new stone church, and found a women's community.
By the early 20th century, the Seraphim-Diveyevo Monastery became the largest women's monastery in Russia. However, the cloister was closed in 1927. Its revival began in 1988.
The exhibition will introduce visitors to photographs, documents, and authentic items associated with Saint Seraphim of Sarov. The main relics of the exhibition are an icon with a particle of the relics and a shoe of Saint Seraphim of Sarov.
A moleben to Saint Seraphim of Sarov will be performed daily at 5:00 PM in the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord.
