The "Christmas Music Academy" opened in Vitebsk

В Витебске открылась "Рождественская музыкальная академия"

For the fourth time, the regional philharmonic society invites young talented musicians to study at the "Christmas Music Academy," which will run from January 28 to February 2 this year.

This concert and educational project offers an opportunity not only to receive qualified lessons and consultations from renowned musicians and educators but also to introduce the general public to masterpieces of world classics and contemporary music performed by guests and young talents.

Traditionally, on the opening day of the "Academy," a presentation of the exhibition "Symphony of Color" by students of the Vitebsk Children's Art School took place. Young artists presented their painterly vision of music. The first lesson was a piano masterclass given by Yevgeny Starodubtsev, a professor at the P. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. In the evening of January 28, the grand opening of the "Christmas Music Academy" was held on the philharmonic stage. The concert featured students from the Belarusian State Academy of Music from the class of Vladimir Dulov, Head of the Department of Special Piano, Associate Professor, and laureate of international competitions. They performed music by Schumann, Brahms, and Scriabin.

On January 29, a performance by Yevgeny Starodubtsev, a laureate of international competitions, is scheduled. This pianist has conquered many world stages and performed with the best symphony orchestras. In Vitebsk, he will perform works by Chopin, Szymanowski, Liszt, and Stravinsky.

The "Academy" will conclude on January 31 with a gala concert featuring project participants and Andrey Ivanov, a student of the Moscow Conservatory and winner of the Delphic Games. Andrey is a graduate of Vitebsk Children's Music School No. 4 (class of teachers E. Skachkova and O. Kudryavtseva) and a scholarship holder of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of talented youth.

A unique postscript to the official "academic" program at the philharmonic society will be the performance on February 2 by the renowned ensemble of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society named after D. Shostakovich, the Youth Trio, consisting of Olesya Morozova (piano), Yan Tomilov (violin), and Roman Kiselev (cello).

For the first time in Vitebsk, the famous quartet by Gustav Mahler will be performed by musicians. To perform this work, Honored Artist of Russia Daniil Meerovich (viola), whose work is well known to Vitebsk residents, will perform with the trio. The musician plays in the I. Stravinsky Quartet, which has repeatedly participated in the I. Sollertinsky Festival. In addition to Mahler's work, pieces by Haydn, Brahms, and Rachmaninoff will be performed at the concert.
