An exhibition of works by Oleg Skovorodko, dedicated to the artist's 75th birthday, has opened in Vitebsk

В Витебске открылась выставка работ Олега Сковородко, приуроченная к 75-летию живописца
The artist is a graduate of the Art and Graphics Department of the Vitebsk Pedagogical Institute, where he studied under Felix Gumen and Albert Nekrasov. He also names Gauguin, Van Gogh, and Chagall as his teachers. These masters taught him the lessons of color that distinguish Oleg Skovorodko's painting. His paintings are always bright, striking, decorative, and monumental. To his favorite yellow-crimson color, he has recently added a deep blue – the color of the lakes of his small homeland – Lepel region.

– The exhibition features figurative and abstract works. I have shown my favorite landscapes and still lifes quite often; this time, I decided to present myself in a different role. Here you can see themes that are unusual for me, for example, "The Rape of Europa." Many have addressed this subject, and I wanted to paint it in my own way, – said the author.

All his works are painted in his own way, in a manner peculiar only to him. He is not an imitator, but a discoverer of his own style, his authorial signature. Therefore, his painting is interesting to both colleagues in the creative workshop, and art critics, and simply art lovers.

Oleg Skovorodko has been a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists since 1986, and has participated in numerous regional, national, and international exhibitions, including in England, Germany, Latvia, Poland, Russia, France, and Estonia. His work is a special phenomenon in national art. His works successfully combine the developments of various art schools, classical and avant-garde, and show the influence of modernism and impressionism, adapted to the realities of Belarus. The main thing for him has always been and remains the desire to express love for the people close to him and his native land.

The artist's works are housed in the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, the Museum of Modern Art, and museums in Grodno, Mogilev, and Polotsk, as well as in private collections and galleries in Russia, Israel, Germany, France, Holland, England, Poland, Turkey, India, and others.
Oleg Skovorodko's labor and creative activities have been recognized with numerous certificates and diplomas from various countries. In 2019, the artist was awarded the Medal of Francysk Skaryna.

The artist named his юбилейную exhibition "Form. Color. Rhythm" and presented 44 works to the public, two of which, "A Toast to Art" and "Funeral of a Veteran," will be added to the museum collection of the Regional Museum of Local Lore, which currently holds 28 of his works.

At the opening of the exhibition, many kind words were spoken about Oleg Skovorodko. The artist was presented with an Honorary Diploma of the Regional Executive Committee and an award from the Belarusian Union of Artists.

But the main award is the attention of the viewers who come to the painter's exhibitions. For them, he has prepared a gift – the painting "House by the Lake," which will be raffled among the exhibition visitors on December 15.
