Vitebsk dormitory of VGTK reopened after reconstruction
In the former dormitory building on Lazo Street, over 300 students lived in cramped conditions that did not meet modern requirements, in a corridor-type setup. After the renovation, everything changed dramatically: the interior was updated, new PVC doors and windows were installed, heating and ventilation systems were repaired, new furniture, bedding, electric stoves, and shelving for utility rooms were purchased, and most importantly, cozy living units (two rooms for one or two residents) with a bathroom and shower room were created.
– It's paradise compared to the conditions we lived in at the dormitory on Goncharnaya Street. It was far to get to our studies, and now I will live alone in a room in a dormitory located just a stone's throw from the academic buildings. The building has a buffet, a gym, a kitchen where you can cook, in short, excellent conditions have been created for us to study and rest well. I never even dreamed of such happiness, – emphasized Karolina Larchenko, a future telecommunications operator and saleswoman.
– In total, we will accommodate about 300 students in the dormitory and completely solve the accommodation problem for non-resident students, – emphasized the college director Alexander Losyakin. – Moreover, we plan to abandon one of the three dormitories on Frunze Avenue that are on our balance sheet.
Alexander Losyakin noted that the college has an excellent material and technical base for training highly qualified specialists. The students of the Vitebsk college have no equals in the republican WorldSkills competition for professional skills. And for recreation and sports, there are four sports halls, and 18 amateur art clubs are operating.
By the way. 3.6 million rubles were spent on the modernization of the building constructed in 1972. In addition to internal transformations, thermal renovation was carried out, the roof was replaced, the porch was updated and equipped with a ramp. The entire scope of work was completed by Profinkо LLC within five months.
Nikolai Sherstnev emphasized that the students and the teaching staff have given themselves a wonderful New Year's gift, that they do not rest on their laurels and always move forward. The team, led by the director, strives to be the best in the republic, and they are succeeding. It is impossible to train excellent specialists without a decent material base, conditions for study and living. This is remembered at the college, and everything possible is being done to create comfortable conditions. The Governor wished the students to worthily represent the Vitebsk region, to be happy in life and love.
