A new building of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs has opened in Vitebsk

The Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs in Vitebsk celebrated its housewarming.

The ceremony for the opening of the new district department building was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov, representatives of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, honored guests, and employees of the District Department of Internal Affairs.

The three-story building features offices equipped with modern technology and furniture, as well as an assembly hall. A sports complex, including a shooting range, a gym, and a sports hall, occupies part of the premises. It will be accessible not only to the employees of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs but also to their colleagues from city departments.

"This is an important event for the employees of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs," emphasized the minister. According to him, the conditions created here will improve the quality of the employees' professional activities. "Today we visited the citizenship and migration department, where administrative procedures are carried out. Excellent conditions have been created for receiving citizens, including a playroom for children, which is very important. Overall, everything has been done at a very high level," emphasized Ivan Kubrakov.

This facility is significant for the Vitebsk region, as the last time a new building for the internal affairs bodies in the region was constructed was in the 1980s. The capsule laying ceremony at the construction site of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs building took place in May 2014. It contained the badge "Vitebsk Militia," an issue of the regional police newspaper "02," and a message to future generations. Due to a lack of funding, the work was then suspended. It resumed just over a year ago with the appointment of Mikhail Grib as the head of the Vitebsk police, who currently heads the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

Officers of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs serve one of the largest districts of Vitebsk with a population of over 130,000 people. "The territory of the Oktyabrsky district is the central part of the city. The district houses key industrial and transport enterprises, communications enterprises, fuel and energy industry, and public catering facilities. It includes residential areas and green zones, parks of culture and recreation, as well as the main venue for the international arts festival 'Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk' – the Summer Amphitheater. Additionally, a significant portion of the regional center's entertainment venues are located within the service area of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs," said Dmitry Borodavko, Head of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs.

The history of the district department spans over 100 years.
