The small pool of Children and Youth Sports School No. 8 for swimming has reopened in Vitebsk after reconstruction.
We remind you that three years ago, the large "Molodost" swimming pool, which houses the Children's and Youth Sports School No. 8 for swimming, was significantly transformed after modernization. In this sports school, 26 highly qualified coaches are training Vitebsk boys and girls to become future professionals who can later join the sports reserve of the region and the country as a whole. It was within these walls that our famous and titled countrywoman, Natalia Baranovskaya, an participant of the Olympic Games in Atlanta, a medalist of world and European championships of different years, and a master of sports of international class, took her first swim. Tatyana Ivashen, multiple champion and record holder of the Republic of Belarus Yury Suvorov, and others are also widely known.
However, young swimmers need to be trained from childhood. Therefore, in 2011, the reconstruction of the small pool, also under the jurisdiction of the "dushk" (children's and youth sports school), began. Now its basin is lined with new tiles, an automated circulating water supply system and a modern ventilation system have been installed. Thanks to the finishing, the premises themselves have been transformed from the inside. The general contractor for the repair and construction work was ChRSUP "SoyuzDvinStroy". Almost 2.5 billion Belarusian rubles of budget funds were spent on the modernization of the pool. As a result, the students of Children's and Youth Sports School No. 8 have an excellent training ground, and for other young residents of the regional center, it is a place where they can learn to swim and splash in the water while snow is still on the ground outside.
By the way, in addition to younger schoolchildren, children from 4 years old can also learn the basics of swimming here. Enrollment in these paid groups for swimming lessons and health improvement for preschool children starts on the first days of the renovated small pool's operation.
The opening of the small pool for the younger trainees of the sports school was a real celebration, as they had the opportunity not only to be the first to try out the new water lanes but also to receive gifts from the guests. For example, Viktor Byńkov, Executive Director of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Representative Office in the Vitebsk Region, presented swimming boards to those who are not yet too confident in the blue expanse.
There will be many more such events in the region as the opening of the modern small pool at the Children and Youth Sports School No. 8 in Vitebsk. Vladimir Terentyev, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Chairman of the Public Association "Vitebsk Regional Swimming Federation," who was given the honor of cutting the red ribbon, assured this.
– A lot of funds are being invested in the reconstruction of sports facilities in the region this year – about one hundred billion Belarusian rubles have been allocated additionally for the development of the sports industry in the region, – emphasized Vladimir Vladimirovich. – As for swimming, this year we plan to open a 25-meter pool in Dokshytsy, and in 2014 – a similar facility in Ushachi. In addition, this year the Regional Program for Innovative and Investment Development of the Vitebsk Region for 2011-2015 provides for the start of construction of pools in the Bilevo microdistrict (Vitebsk) at secondary school No. 46 and in Novolukoml.
Speaking about the small pool of the Children and Youth Sports School No. 8, which we opened today, it should be noted that this facility is important not only for training future Olympic champions but also for teaching children to swim. After all, today we face the task of ensuring that all children can swim by the time they finish primary school. In this regard, even in the preschool institutions that we have been opening recently, small swimming pools are provided. Thus, over the past two years, 2 such kindergartens have been commissioned in the regional center, and this year we plan to build similar new facilities in Vitebsk and Polotsk.
