A new school has been opened in Vitebsk
School No. 47, named after the legendary army general, Hero of the Soviet Union Yevgeny Ivanovsky, located in the Bilevo microdistrict, opened its doors to almost 2,000 students. Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev, Presidential Aide - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Anatoly Linevich, other high-ranking guests, the teaching staff, students, and their parents took part in the festive event and the first school assembly.

The complex, designed for 1020 students per shift, includes three buildings, two swimming pools (for senior and junior students), and numerous sports grounds for various sports. Comfortable conditions for stay and education have been created for the children using multimedia technical means, including for inclusive education. Given the high demand for the facility, regional authorities are discussing the possibility of building another school complex in this microdistrict in the future.
According to Roman Golovchenko, the first day of autumn is always a bright and significant event for both children entering the first grade and for those starting a new academic year. It is a wonderful memory for everyone, as each of us has crossed the threshold of school for the first time.
"Today, the school bell will ring for 1 million 55 thousand students in our country. It will be special for you, as you receive a wonderful gift from the state today – you are entering a modern, spacious school," said the Prime Minister addressing the children. He noted that two more newly built schools will open their doors today for students in Minsk and the Minsk region.
"Support for education is a constant priority for the state and the country's leadership, which is why we are doing everything possible to create comfortable and safe conditions for a happy childhood, to receive a decent education, and to have the opportunity to develop and pursue what you enjoy," emphasized the Prime Minister.
According to him, a lot has been done for this. In addition to new schools, 12 kindergartens with 2,000 places have opened for the country's youngest citizens this year. Students of Yanka Kupala Grodno University received a new dormitory with over 1,000 places as a gift by September 1. More than 2,000 schools have also been renovated, with updated sports and educational equipment, and sports facilities have been put in order.
"Of course, today, first-graders, of whom there are 114,000 in the country, are the most excited. They are crossing the school threshold for the first time, and 318 of them will enter the first grade in this school," stated Roman Golovchenko. "Dear children, an amazing world of knowledge opens up before you. Many interesting things await you, many new discoveries throughout each of the following days. Do not be afraid of difficulties, as wise and experienced teachers are by your side. Be responsible and diligent in your studies."
Roman Golovchenko also addressed the high school students with parting words: "Studying at school is the foundation of all your future achievements, so do not lose interest in it, cherish your small homeland, be patriots of your country, and approach the choice of your future profession responsibly."
The Prime Minister also addressed the parents: "School is, first and foremost, a temple of knowledge, so respect teachers, appreciate their work. It is they who give their heart, knowledge, and health to their students, your children, every day, take care of them and educate them."
Roman Golovchenko expressed the warmest words of gratitude for their work to the educators. "The future of our country is in your hands, so your work is extremely important for citizens, the state, and society," he emphasized, wishing everyone a successful academic year.
According to Nikolai Sherstnev, today will go down in the history of the city, as there has never been such a school in Vitebsk as the one opening now. "It is multifunctional, it is truly a center for the development of our children. It has everything, from excellent classrooms to sports facilities. But it depends only on the joint efforts of parents and teachers what kind of people our children will grow up to be," the governor emphasized, wishing the children to grow up to be worthy citizens of Belarus.
