In 2019, Vitebsk plans to employ about 3.8 thousand people in new jobs and available vacancies, said Marina Budkevich, Deputy Head of the Department of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the City Executive Committee.
"Currently, the labor market in the city is characterized by a decrease in the number of officially registered unemployed and an increase in vacancies from employers. If at the beginning of 2016, six unemployed people applied for one vacancy, then as of January 1 this year, there are three vacancies per person. The unemployment rate was 0.4%," Marina Budkevich said. - In 2019, we plan to employ about 3.8 thousand people in new jobs and available vacancies. We also expect to achieve a share of employed people of 67% of all those in need who are registered with the employment service."
The specialist noted that as of March 1, there were almost 700 unemployed people registered with the city employment service, with 2414 vacancies. About 80% of the offers are for blue-collar jobs. Among the city's employers, construction professions, seamstresses, nurses, doctors, various types of fitters, and drivers (with the start of the agricultural season, tractor drivers are especially in demand), and electric gas welders remain in demand.
In 2018, 2.8 thousand people were employed in newly created jobs in Vitebsk. The greatest activity was shown by the foreign unitary enterprise "BelVillesden" (created 226 jobs), LLC "Modern Expo" (175), UP "CharmPremier" (132), and UP "Vitebsk Fur Combine" (52). Last year, residents of the regional center received 42 state subsidies to organize their own businesses.
