In Vitebsk, letters of the Russian alphabet are being bought
January 29, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. In Vitebsk, they are buying letters of the Russian alphabet, and expensively. Private ads of a seemingly strange nature appear in local newspapers from time to time: "Will buy the letter 'I', expensively," reports an attentive reader and BELTA correspondent.
As it turned out, gambling Vitebsk residents are collecting 10 non-winning "Vashe Loto" lottery tickets, which have letters that make up the word "Avtomobil" (Car) in the hope of winning a real car. As reported by the official website of "Belarusian Lotteries," a special draw is held for non-winning "Vashe Loto" lottery tickets from draws No. 407-415 (from December 5, 2009 to January 30, 2010 inclusive). One can assume that the author of the quoted advertisement has every chance of becoming the happy owner of their own car, given that they are willing to pay a lot for just one letter. By the way, along with "I," demand for "Ь" has also been noticed.
Natalia Deminova, head of the Vitebsk region department of RUP "Belarusian Lotteries," noted that residents of the northern region of Belarus are very fond of gambling. Moreover, with the onset of winter, their passion increases - this is evidenced by sales volumes.
The prize draw of the special "Vashe Loto" draw will take place on February 20, 2010. It is noteworthy that on February 24, 1466, the widow of the artist Jan van Eyck held the first charity lottery in Europe for the poor, thereby marking the beginning of the official history of lotteries and making February 24 their birthday. -0-
