The second building of the Palace of Children and Youth has been opened in Vitebsk after renovation

The second building of the regional Palace of Children and Youth has opened in Vitebsk today after renovation.

The event was attended by Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev, Aide to the President - Inspector for Vitebsk Region Anatoly Linevich, Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Vadim Zaryankin, representatives of the Vitebsk Regional and City Executive Committees, the teaching staff of the educational institution, and children studying there.

According to the Deputy Director for Educational and Methodological Work of the Palace, Inna Shornik, the reconstruction and modernization of the building located on Frunze Avenue took less than a year. The general contractor was "Vitebskobselstroy". Br2.7 million were allocated from the regional budget for construction work, and over Br500 thousand for the purchase of equipment and furniture. Staircases, walls, floors, doors, and offices have been reconstructed. A large amount of modern equipment has been installed in the premises: multiboards, interactive whiteboards, virtual reality headsets, computer classes, etc. "Certainly, all this will ensure a high-quality educational process that meets the demands of the time, as well as open new interest groups related to robotics and programming," noted Inna Shornik.

The teaching staff and children were congratulated on the pleasant event by the chairman of the regional executive committee. "As trite as it may sound, children are our future. If we don't invest money in their development, we have no future. A lot is being done in the Vitebsk region for children so that they can develop their talents and prove themselves in various olympiads and competitions. And we see the result," stated Nikolai Sherstnev.

The governor recalled that two years ago, the main building of the palace at Shcherbakova Street - Naberezhnaya, 8, was opened after renovation. "I promised then that we would bring this matter to a logical conclusion and put the second building in order as well, so that the entire complex would become a landmark for other institutions of additional education for children and youth," said the head of the region.

The regional palace hosts 416 interest groups, attended by over 4,000 students. In total, more than 35,000 students are engaged in various fields in the institutions of the region's additional education system.
