A post office has opened in Vitebsk after reconstruction
As evidenced by the memorial plaque on the building at 52/13 Lenin Street, a post and telegraph office was located here from 1883 to 1917, and from 1930 – the main city post office and telegraph college. In the post-war years until 1964, it housed the main post office, and then – a post office.
During the reconstruction, it was decided to preserve the features of the old post office while using modern technologies. The interior is designed in a retro style, and the columns are decorated with poetic lines by famous poets related to postal services. Old clocks, as well as a painting depicting a historical event, remind of the passage of time.
Post office №26 serves over 11 thousand residents, as well as over 300 enterprises and organizations. For the convenience of clients, an electronic queue has been introduced, and four service windows are in operation. A payment and information terminal is installed in the hall, which allows making commission-free payments, as well as an interactive Smart panel that "brings to life" artistic stamps.
The "Post Shop" offers a wide range of postcards, stamps, postcrossing cards, and souvenirs.
The opening of the post office and the memorial plaque was attended by the Minister of Communications and Information of the Republic of Belarus Konstantin Shulgan, General Director of RUE "Belpochta" Svetlana Yurkevich, and the management of the Vitebsk branch, as well as representatives of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee.
– The post is a unique delivery and communication operator, whose functions and tasks in the modern world are much broader than commonly believed. Digital technologies are actively being introduced into the postal service today. We are constantly improving our work, – noted Konstantin Shulgan.
And Svetlana Yurkevich admitted that the transformations of the post office she saw even exceeded her expectations. She also noted the effective work of the Vitebsk branch.
