A person died in a fire in Vitebsk

Over the past day, 2 fires occurred in settlements of the Vitebsk region, resulting in 1 fatality and damage to 2 structures. During the aftermath of a road traffic accident, 1 person was rescued (extricated). Since the beginning of 2015, 359 fires have occurred in the Vitebsk region, with 51 fatalities, including 2 children. In the city of Vitebsk, 57 fires have occurred since the beginning of the year, with 11 fatalities.

Carelessness, ignorance, and simple human negligence lead to fires, and even more so to the deaths of people and children in fires. This case was no exception. On June 02, 2015, around midnight, the operational control center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report of a fire on Titov Street. Upon the arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations units, the house was engulfed in flames. During the firefighting efforts, the body of the homeowner, born in 1954, was discovered on the floor.

The investigative team of the Department of Internal Affairs will determine the cause of the fire.
