In Vitebsk, more than 60 sites for trade and catering facilities have been leased for the season

In Vitebsk, the rights to lease more than 60 sites for non-stationary trade and public catering facilities for the season have been sold at auction.

The Vitebsk City Executive Committee is holding a similar auction for the fifth time on the eve of the summer season. A total of 95 lots for lease rights were put up for tender, including 79 sites for non-stationary trade (mobile shops, kiosks, and hot drink vending machines, itinerant trade) and 16 sites for catering facilities of various formats. 29 participants showed interest in the items for tender (in 2019, there were 40 buyers), which, considering the specifics of the current situation and unfavorable external factors, can be considered a good result, the organizers noted. The almost Br37 thousand earned at the auction will go to the city budget.

The most intense competition unfolded for sites for placing stalls selling fruits and vegetables. They are located mainly in remote areas of the city and are leased until October 31, 2020. As a result, five out of seven sites were sold with an increase in the starting price of 100 times or more. The most expensive lot at the auction was the right to lease a site on the outskirts of the regional center with the highest rent (20 BC per month), which the winner bought for Br5.5 thousand, which is 163 times more than the starting price.

The most in-demand were territories for non-stationary trade in park areas, in the area of the Vitebsk embankment, and in the central part of the regional center. Thus, participants bought all seven sites for selling popcorn and cotton candy. Places for selling souvenirs and toys were in high demand among entrepreneurs (seven out of nine lots were sold). One participant acquired the right to lease all four sites put up for tender for placing kiosks selling hot drinks.

For the first time, plots for placing food trucks were put up for auction, but there was no demand for them. In total, out of 16 sites for catering facilities of various formats, participants showed interest in four sites in the central part of the regional center.

The auction items include plots of territory with tiled surfaces ranging from 5 to 100 sq.m in various parts of the city, mainly in recreational areas and park zones. Their lease term is set until October 31 of the current year, and about 15% of the objects are leased for temporary use for a year. The locations were determined based on the results of monitoring conducted by the trade department of the city executive committee, taking into account several criteria, including the population's need for services and the demand for certain plots by business entities.

Potential tenants must meet a number of conditions. In particular, to open a summer cafe, it is required to have a stationary public catering facility in the regional center. The operating hours of seasonal cafes are set until 11:00 PM, with musical accompaniment allowed until 9:00 PM. The tenant is obliged to install two biotoilets near each facility. The operation of the cafes should not cause complaints from residents of nearby houses.
