The 'Learning Region' forum will be held in Vitebsk

From January 31 to February 1, 2014, the "Learning Region" forum will be held in Vitebsk.

The forum is the final event of the project "Learning Region: Education for All Generations," implemented within the framework of the support for Belarus by the Federal Government of Germany in cooperation with Belarusian and German partners, and supported by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The aim of the forum is to discuss the possibilities of implementing the "Learning Region/City" concept in Belarus, to stimulate intersectoral cooperation in the field of continuing education, to present educational programs and projects, and to exchange experience.

The event will bring together over 100 representatives of local and regional government bodies, educational, cultural, and social protection institutions, non-governmental, non-profit organizations, private educational institutions, employer associations, and trade unions to discuss the possibilities of implementing the "Learning Region/City" concept in Belarus.

Experts from Belarus, Lithuania, and Germany will participate in the forum.

Forum participants will be able to learn about the "Learning Region" concept and the experience of its implementation in Germany, as well as the results of the study "Educational Needs of Region Residents," conducted in the Vitebsk and Minsk regions in 2013.

Within the framework of working groups, Belarusian experts, together with foreign colleagues, will discuss issues of adult continuing education management, the role of continuing education in the development of rural areas and improving the quality of life for socially vulnerable groups, and the link between sustainable development strategies and educational projects.

The discussion on the prospects of implementing "Learning Region" in the Republic of Belarus will be held in an "open space" format.

The forum is organized by: Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Vitebsk City Executive Committee, Representation of the registered society "Deutscher Volkschsul – Verband e. V." in the Republic of Belarus, Association of Continuing Education and Enlightenment, public association of the Vitebsk Regional Branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation, public organization "Christian Fellowship of Adults and Youth", State Educational Institution "Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education", State Institution "Territorial Center for Social Services for the Population of Pervomaisky District of Vitebsk", Educational Institution "Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov", Republican public association "Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs".
