A concert by the Patriarchal Choir of the Moscow Danilov Monastery will be held in Vitebsk
On March 31 at 18:30, the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic will host a concert by the Patriarchal Choir of the Moscow Danilov Monastery – one of the most famous singing ensembles in Russia. This unique ensemble holds the status of the choir of the Synodal Residence of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus'.
Continuing the tradition of Russian znamenное, демественное, and строчное singing, which originated in the monastery several centuries ago, the Festive Patriarchal Choir is currently the face of Russian performing arts in the field of church music. The ensemble participates in all festive services and represents Russia at international festivals of spiritual music.
During the concert in Vitebsk, chants of Great Lent, spiritual verses, romances, and folk songs will be performed.
The ensemble's signature is its highly complex manner of performing ancient spiritual chants, which inherits Byzantine traditions: they are sung as if in one breath, with a continuous sound.
A concert by the Patriarchal Choir is always an event, a celebration. Thanks to its extraordinary sound, unique performance style, soulfulness, and sincerity, the ensemble always wins the hearts of the audience.
On March 31, Vitebsk audiences will have the opportunity to get acquainted with this unique creative ensemble and hear how they sing not only with their voices but also with their souls.
