The Vitebsk region will host the regional tour of the republican competition "Student of the Year"

On October 24, 2013, at 6:00 PM, the regional tour of the republican competition "Student of the Year" will be held at the House of Culture of the educational institution "Vitebsk Order of the Badge of Honor State Academy of Veterinary Medicine". The best students of higher education institutions of the region, winners of the university stages of the competition, will take part in the event.

For reference: The primary organizations of the NGO "BRSM" in the region's higher education institutions unite more than 10,000 organization activists. In 2011, the republican competition "Student of the Year" was held for the first time. Based on the results of the qualifying rounds and achievements in the final stage of the competition, the title of "Student of the Year" on a republican scale was awarded to Marina Sinitsa (Menzhinskaya), a student of the educational institution "Vitebsk State Technological University" and an activist of the NGO "BRSM". In 2012, Olga Maslak, a student of the educational institution "Vitebsk State Order of Friendship Medical University", took an honorable third place in the final stage of the competition.

The competition has become a good tradition. This year, the qualifying stages have generated great interest among both organizers and students, as each spectator could feel their involvement in a common cause and pride in their educational institution.

In the regional stage, participants and their support groups will introduce numerous fans and jury members to their achievements, hobbies, abilities, and talents in the "Business Card" competition, presented in any creative form.

The "Portfolio" competition (correspondence) will showcase participants' achievements in studies, creativity, science, sports, public and research activities, and will present the contestants in an original way.

Participants will have to present their reasoned position on a given topic within 20 seconds in the public speaking competition, thereby convincing the jury members and fans of their correctness and eloquence.

The best youth initiatives and projects popularizing the main activities of the "BRSM" NGO will be presented in an original format during the competitive event "Project Defense".

The student's profile will be further enhanced by a staged sports-oriented performance on the theme "Sport is a healthy lifestyle!" in the "Sport MIX" competition.

The final stage of the competition program will be the demonstration of creative performances by participants and support groups.

In addition, a pleasant moment will be the demonstration of the contestants' "homework" - humorous video clips on the theme "I am a student!".

Before the event, numerous guests and fans will be presented with unique master classes: "The Art of Photography", "Young Businessman", "Beauty in Motion" (fitness training). The organizers express their hope that participation in the master classes will help young people become successful and develop leadership qualities.

This competition is a significant event in the student environment and is aimed at developing and supporting initiatives, the intellectual and creative potential of youth, identifying leaders, popularizing effective forms of youth participation in public life, and also contributes to the self-realization of students in the fields of science, art, and sports.

The winner of the regional stage of the competition will take part in the republican (final) round of "Student of the Year", the solemn awarding and summing up of which will take place within the framework of the celebration of International Student Day.
