In Persian, the word "Navruz" means "new day." It is also the name of a holiday among the peoples of Central Asia and some nationalities of the Caucasus, dedicated to the arrival of spring and the beginning of agricultural work. Sowing crops and the awakening of nature are important events for any nation, accompanied by numerous rituals and traditions and a whole layer of folk art.
On March 24, all guests of the Vitebsk Veterinary Academy will have the opportunity to learn more about Navruz and how it is celebrated today.

The event will begin at 17:00 with the presentation of an exhibition dedicated to the culture of countries such as Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Tatarstan, and Turkmenistan, which celebrate Navruz annually. Visitors will see national costumes and headdresses, handicrafts from the participating countries, and also taste national dishes and treats. After the exhibition presentation, a concert will take place, featuring students from all four universities in Vitebsk – Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, Vitebsk Technological University, Vitebsk Order of the Badge of Honor State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University. The program will include performances representing the peculiarities of folk art of Eastern countries and related in one way or another to the celebrated holiday.

This holiday, rooted in the distant past, will not only be a unique expression of gratitude to Spring, which bestows new life and a new day, but will also bring together a group of people interested in the cultural and historical traditions of foreign countries.
