A rally dedicated to the first anniversary of the installation of the monument 'Paratroopers of All Generations' was held in Vitebsk
Speaking to representatives of different generations of the airborne forces, veteran and youth activists, and city residents, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev noted that Vitebsk is not by chance called the "paratrooper capital" of Belarus. Twenty thousand men and women from the Dvina region have served in the Airborne Forces. The elite of the country's Armed Forces is based here – the renowned 103rd Separate Guards Airborne Brigade, whose 75th anniversary will soon be celebrated. Vitebsk is the hometown of Lieutenant General Ivan Lisov, the permanent deputy commander of the Airborne Forces of the USSR, General Vasily Margelov. The majestic memorial sign in honor of the "blue berets" on the high bank of the Western Dvina is becoming a symbol of the continuity of the best combat traditions of the Airborne Forces.
The significance of all this in the patriotic education of young defenders of the Motherland was discussed by the Deputy Commander of the 103rd Separate Guards Airborne Brigade for Ideological Work, Denis Kriventsov. And the chairman of the regional public association "Veterans of Airborne Forces and Special Operations Forces," Alexander Khalatryan, proposed meeting at the memorial sign on October 17 every year. The rally participants laid flowers at the foot of the memorial.
