An oblast pedagogical conference was held in Vitebsk
"For the first time, the Vitebsk region has taken first place in the country based on the results of republican olympiads. According to the results of the centralized testing, the region is among the top three leaders. There are achievements in each area, from preschool education to vocational education," Dmitry Khoma, head of the main department for education of the regional executive committee, told reporters. "The process of structural optimization of the education sector in the region is practically completed, but it will continue in a completely different format than the one we conducted in 2018. It will be a search for internal reserves for the development of new opportunities. In the Vitebsk region, more than 12,000 first-graders will start school, and the total number of students in general secondary education institutions will be 116,000. All 314 schools are ready to receive children. Repair work will also continue in some educational institutions, for example, at Secondary School No. 2 in the urban-type settlement of Beshenkovichi. A local graduate has expressed a desire to invest funds in the renovation of his native school; this year alone, he will allocate over Br3 million, so there will be some inconvenience at this secondary school during the first quarter. We hope that by the beginning of the second quarter, the children will come to an updated school."
Educators from all over the region received heartfelt congratulations on the upcoming holiday, Knowledge Day, from representatives of the regional authorities and clergy; the best educators and figures in the educational sphere were awarded honorary prizes. "A teacher is one of the core professions that shapes citizens and patriots. What is instilled in school, and then continued in vocational and higher education institutions, shapes the future of our country. Our prosperity, or whether we will steadily follow in the wake of all other countries, will depend on this," emphasized the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, thanking the educators for their difficult and important work.
He also noted that it is the teacher who helps a child to look at the world with wide-open eyes, teaches them to think and critically perceive information that streams from all sources. The head of the region pointed out that the concept of "patriotism" is of great importance if it is presented correctly to children. "I once heard the phrase that there is patriotism, and there is nationalism. Patriotism is love for everything that is one's own: language, land, traditions. Nationalism is hatred for everything foreign. I am confident that our educators will teach young Belarusians to distinguish between these concepts and to be true patriots of their Motherland," added Alexander Subbotin.
In ancient times, especially in rural areas, priests and teachers were considered the most respected people. Today, the work of a teacher is not easy and, at first glance, unnoticeable, however, for a child, the image of the first teacher sometimes becomes decisive, influencing the choice of life path. The head of the Vitebsk diocese, Archbishop Dmitry, emphasizing the spiritual development of the younger generation, addressed the educators. "Spiritual science requires a lot of emotional investment. And here the personality of the teacher is important. People who teach children must also work on themselves," the владыка noted.
Creative teams of the region gave a vibrant concert for the honored guests gathered at the conference in the regional philharmonic. Choreographic and vocal performances gave teachers and educators many impressions and charged them with positivity for the upcoming academic year.-0-
