The regional stage of the republican robotics tournament is taking place in Vitebsk
116 young participants are taking part in the robotics tournament. These are technically savvy students from schools and institutions of additional education from Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, as well as from Beshenkovichi, Dokshitsy, Dubrovno, Rossony, Chashniki, Sharkovshchina, and Shumilino districts.
Emelyan Bril from Polotsk has been fascinated by smart machines for four years. He created a robot rescuer that will help the Ministry of Emergency Situations in various extreme situations. The robot's task is to be as maneuverable as possible and to help people.
– For example, if there is a roof collapse, a house collapse, an earthquake, or a person cannot access hard-to-reach or radioactive areas. The robot can drive on a forest road, jump over grass, stones, or cones. And if a person is trapped under rubble during a building collapse, the robot will deliver necessary medications, – said Vasilina Bril, an additional education teacher at the Polotsk District Center for Children and Youth.
Students from Secondary School No. 2 in Dubrovno created a real robot orchestra that performs seven melodies. The robots play, for example, on tin cans, dulcimers, metallophones, rattles, and other instruments. And, of course, all of them are united by a robot conductor.
According to Tatyana Narubina, Head of the Scientific and Technical Creativity and Information Technologies Sector of the Technical Creativity Department of the Vitebsk Regional Palace of Children and Youth, the participants will compete in ten categories: ROBBO, "Autonomous Aerial Vehicles", "Grand Journey", "Line Following", "Controlled Robot Soccer 3x3", "Relay Race", "Intelligent Sumo 15x15", "Lego WeDo Assembly and Programming", "Lego WeDo 2.0 Assembly and Programming", "Robot Show". Based on the tournament results, a team representing the Vitebsk region will be formed to participate in the final stage of the republican robotics tournament, which will be held on April 26-27 in Zhlobin, Gomel region.
Additionally, winners and prize-winners of the tournament who are 8th-10th grade students will be automatically admitted to the second and third stages of student selection upon registration for training at the National Children's Technopark, based on their diploma. Applications for the September educational session will be accepted from April 15 to April 29.
