An exhibition of a Latvian artist with Belarusian roots is taking place in Vitebsk

В Витебске проходит выставка латвийской художницы с белорусскими корнями

A painting exhibition by a Latvian artist with Belarusian roots has opened at the Vitebsk Center for Modern Art.

Anna Peipina was born in the Mogilev region, graduated from the Bobruisk Art College, and in 1977 moved to Latvia, which became her second home. Here she established herself as a creative personality, she was accepted into the Union of Artists of Latvia (the first representative from Belarus after the collapse of the USSR). Anna is also a member of the association of Belarusian artists of the Baltic states “Mayu Honar”.

About 10 years ago, Anna Peipina participated in a group exhibition of Latvian artists at the Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk. The current exhibition provides a broader introduction to the work of the Riga-based artist with Belarusian roots and is part of the project

“The Return of Names to the Homeland”. It features about 30 works created over 15 years. These are mainly landscapes, still lifes, and spatial compositions that the author has been working on for the past 10 years.

– I am concerned with the theme of spiritual quests. Every line, figure, spot of light, color carries a certain meaning and image. You need to look closely at the paintings, and then they

“open up” to the viewer, become their interlocutor, – explains the artist.

One of her signature works is titled

«Portal». The author believes that art leads a person through the labyrinth of everyday hustle to self-discovery, helping to find the path to true life values. A portal is a gateway, an entrance to the world of spirituality.

Anna Pypina's solo exhibitions have been held in Riga, other Baltic cities, and Paris. Now, residents and guests of Vitebsk have the opportunity to get acquainted with this distinctive author, whose work combines impressions accumulated in Belarus with impulses found in the culture and nature of Latvia. The exhibition will run until September 13.
