A seminar of the regional election commission was held in Vitebsk with the participation of the Secretary of the Central Election Commission Elena Dmukhaylo

Practical aspects of organizing an election campaign were discussed on May 29 at the regional executive committee during a seminar with the participation of Elena Dmukhaylo, Secretary of the Central Election Commission for Elections and National Referendums.

The event was held via video conferencing: compliance with preventive measures in the context of a challenging epidemiological situation is a significant feature of the 2020 electoral campaign, and it is necessary to remember them at all stages of its conduct.

The seminar was attended by chairpersons, deputy chairpersons, and secretaries of territorial commissions, as well as representatives of local authorities involved in various organizational measures for holding elections. As Elena Dmukhaylo noted, the current campaign will not differ from the previous one, as the electoral legislation has remained unchanged, and events like this seminar are needed to provide clarifications and recommendations on various practical aspects of the work of election commissions, which the CEC gives within its powers.

In particular, the CEC Secretary placed special emphasis on precinct commissions, which, whenever possible, should be located in more spacious premises (to ensure social distancing for visitors), preferably on the ground floors of buildings (in accordance with the rules of barrier-free environment). The procedure for updating voter lists also requires increased attention from the commissions, and it must be carried out with the highest quality.
