В Витебске сотни жителей и гостей города участвовали в мероприятиях ко Дню десантников
Hundreds of residents and guests of Vitebsk participated in events dedicated to Paratroopers' Day.

The renowned 103rd Guards Separate Air Assault Brigade is stationed in Vitebsk. Soldiers of this unit marched through the central streets of the city and presented flowers to women, lifting the spirits of passers-by. Hundreds of people, including those who served in the "winged infantry" units, gathered at the brigade's premises with their families and fellow servicemen.

During the Open Day, the unit's grounds were filled with people who enthusiastically examined and took photos with samples of equipment, weapons, and uniforms, and enjoyed soldiers' porridge and tea.

During the rally, Vladimir Penin, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, noted that the soldiers of the current 103rd Guards Separate Air Assault Brigade are worthy successors to the combat traditions. "Your history is the pride of our country and the Vitebsk region. Since January 1945, soldiers and officers of the unit participated in combat operations to defeat the Nazi troops in Hungary, Austria, and Slovakia. In the 1950s-1970s, the Vitebsk division was the first to participate in mastering new equipment and weapons, and combat operation methodologies. During the Afghan War, paratroopers were the first to enter and the last to leave the theater of military operations, having honorably fulfilled their international duty," he said.

After the rally and awarding of servicemen, the most spectacular part of the celebration began – demonstration performances: firing of various types of weapons and the roar of equipment, smoke screens, explosions, precise movements of the freelance honor guard company, hand-to-hand combat techniques, destruction of a mock bandit group in a building, vehicle ballet, and obstacle course crossing.
On their professional holiday, paratroopers not only received congratulations but also gave gifts themselves – the day before, a small "landing party" from the 103rd Brigade visited a children's home in Vitebsk. In addition, soldiers laid flowers at the monument to internationalist soldiers "Pain" and the memorial plaque of General Vasily Margelov.
