"The initiative to organize the festival belongs to the embassies of these countries. We have already collaborated with Sweden – we held screenings for the 100th anniversary of Astrid Lindgren. And in general, our cinema is renowned for its festival traditions. For example, the Francophone Film Week and the Manhattan Short Film Festival are held here, among others. Perhaps this is why there is such interest in 'Mir'. The Italian Embassy has also approached us with a proposal to organize screenings of their films," explained Tatyana Yekomasova.

The screenings during the festival will be free of charge, said the cinema director. In the meantime, residents and guests of Vitebsk can enjoy another gratuitous offering. From March 26 to April 8, the unique project by the Russian branch of Disney, "Happiness is...", will be shown on the screen of the "Mir" cinema. This project has united the efforts of masters of Russian cinema and aspiring filmmakers. Throughout 2014, the company held a casting, resulting in the selection of 6 best screenwriters and 7 directors who created 7 short films reflecting on the theme of happiness. The creative team of the film almanac, as its authors call it, includes both emerging and already well-known Russian actors.
