В Витебске войсковая часть 5524 отметила 30-ю годовщину со дня образования
Vitebsk celebrated the 30th anniversary of the formation of military unit 5524 of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

The solemn ceremony took place in the assembly hall of VSU named after P. Masherov. It was attended by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Igor Brylo, Chairman of the City Executive Committee Gennady Sabynich, heads of law enforcement agencies, and veterans of the unit.

Military unit 5524 was formed in Vitebsk in 1993 as a separate special police battalion of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus. In 2013, the unit was reorganized into the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade. Servicemen assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining public order. They perform tasks related to the convoy of convicted and detained persons. The formation guards correctional institutions and, together with their administration, supervises convicted persons. Engineering and pyrotechnic units inspect reports of the installation or discovery of explosive devices, as well as unexploded ordnance from the Great Patriotic War. Together with dog handlers, combat missions are also carried out by service dogs, which are used, among other things, in the search for narcotic and psychotropic substances.

In his speech, the commander of military unit 5524, Colonel Alexander Alekseenko, noted that throughout its history, the unit has nurtured more than one generation of true patriots and defenders of their Fatherland. Ensuring order on the streets of the Vitebsk region, hundreds of offenders have been detained for crimes against life and health of citizens, and public safety. At the current challenging stage in the history of the Republic of Belarus, the personnel rely on the experience and traditions of their predecessors, successfully solving the tasks set before them.

Chairman of the regional executive committee Alexander Subbotin thanked the servicemen of military unit 5524 not only as the head of the region, but also as a citizen, a resident of Vitebsk, a husband and father, for the peace on our streets at any time of the day. He emphasized that the combat brotherhood of veterans, mutual assistance, and continuity are a good example for the youth.

Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Igor Brylo stated that this significant date essentially embodies almost the entire period of sovereign Belarus. The internal troops stand guard over the security of our country. Great gratitude to the veterans who laid the foundation during the formation stage. Igor Brylo expressed confidence that the members of patriotic clubs operating at military unit 5524 will also soon become a reliable support.

Distinguished servicemen were awarded medals, badges, certificates of honor, and commendations. A festive concert took place.
