Vitebsk revives the kite festival

В Витебске возрождают фестиваль воздушных змеев

In Vitebsk's Mazurino Park, as part of the City Day celebrations on June 28, a good tradition was revived - flying kites.

Such a festival was held about 9 years ago near the regional center - on Kostyukova Hill near the village of Olgovo. Then it faded, and now it was decided to give a second breath to this bright and cheerful holiday.

According to the organizers, the kite, which originated in China, is a close relative of the Belarusian "tsmok" - a dragon. So, the "Festival of Wind" is also folklore and the development of tourist attractions of the Vitebsk region. A monument to a dragon stands on the shore of a lake in Lepel, where festivals are held in its honor.

The Vitebsk "Festival of Wind" was held in the format of a countryside picnic. Many spectators came with children. Young townspeople were treated to board games, drawing contests, and entertainment from clowns from an animation theater. The luckiest participants received prizes.

The organizers hope that next time there will be more guests at the festival. As well as original handmade kites.
