Hail with a diameter of about 1 cm fell in Vitebsk

Today afternoon, hail with a diameter of about 1 cm fell in Vitebsk, duty forecaster of the Republican Hydrometeorological Center Vladimir Koleda told a BELTA correspondent. Light hail was also observed in Berezino (2 mm) and in some districts of the Belarusian capital. In Minsk, the rain with hail was accompanied by strong gusty winds. The specialist emphasized that hail with a diameter of 1-1.5 cm causes great damage to agricultural lands. Hail precipitation usually occurs in humid unstable air masses with significant vertical cloud development.-0-
