Construction of the Trampoline Jumping Center is nearing completion in Vitebsk
The new sports facility, located near the main building of Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov on Pobedy Avenue, consists of two buildings - an administrative part and a specialized trampoline hall. It has already been fully erected, and heating has been connected. The administrative building will house the entrance area, a gym and fitness room, a recovery center (two saunas, a swimming pool, a relaxation room), men's and women's locker rooms, a doctor's office, coaches' rooms, and a conference hall, as well as four hotel rooms for temporary accommodation of athletes. The basement floor will house technical rooms, workshops, and an archive. Interior finishing work and external facade cladding are being completed in this part of the building.
In the near future, builders will begin interior finishing of the trampoline hall, and equipment installation is planned to start there on December 15. Ten trampolines (nine main ones and one training one with a landing pit) will be installed, an acrobatic track will be equipped, and a collapsible podium for judges will be set up. The project also includes the installation of retractable spectator stands for 200 seats, and a video recording and replay system, which is very important for the judging panel during competitions. The adjacent territory is being landscaped concurrently. Parking spaces with a total capacity of 46 parking spots will be provided along the planned driveway.
Vladimir Terentyev paid special attention to the dimensions of the specialized hall. Its length is 48 m, and the ceiling height
- 14 m. "This is very important, as it will technically enable athletes to practice the most complex acrobatic elements, the execution of which allows us to compete worthily with our main rivals - the French, Chinese, and Russians," emphasized the chairman of the regional federation. Issues regarding the hall's design were addressed at the initial stage directly with the coaching staff to fully account for all the nuances of athlete training. The customer of the facility was the Capital Construction Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the general contractor was Vitebsk DSK. The estimated cost of the project is Br8.7 million. Funds were allocated from the regional and republican budgets. The total staff of the center will be 38 people.
It is planned that the first sporting event to be hosted by the new facility will be the open republican tournament named after the Honored Coach of Belarus, Valery Vagel, held in March.
"The Vitebsk trampoline school has its own long and glorious traditions. The victory of our trampolinist Vladislav Goncharov at the Olympic Games in 2016 gave a powerful impetus to the development of this sport in the regional center due to increased popularity among Vitebsk residents: this significant event played a decisive role for many parents in choosing a sport for their child. The opening of this facility will allow us to meet the demand of everyone wishing to engage in trampoline jumping, provide conditions for effective athlete training and high-level competitions, and open new prospects for the development of gymnastics, acrobatic tumbling, and freestyle," noted Vladimir Terentyev.
In addition, not only athletes from the Vitebsk region but also the national team will undergo training here. "The training and camp schedule for trampolinists for the next year is structured in such a way that half of them will be held at the Vitebsk facility.
The construction of the complex also affected other nearby sports facilities: the university stadium began to be renovated, and it is planned to reconstruct the nearby health and fitness complex with a swimming pool.
