In Vitebsk, buses turned green and trams turned red

May 8, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Buses in Vitebsk have turned green, trams have turned red, and trolleybuses have become white and blue. The color of public transport in the regional center will now be uniform, as reported today to journalists by the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Dmitry Sherikov, according to a BELTA correspondent. In accordance with the decision of the city executive committee, all buses on city and suburban routes will be painted only green, trolleybuses - white and blue, trams - red. Owners of route taxis are instructed to paint their cars yellow. All work must be completed by July 1. Only new transport under warranty and transport with advertising will not be repainted. After the warranty expires and the advertising contract ends, the vehicles will acquire the color prescribed by the city executive committee's decision. According to Dmitry Sherikov, color uniformity of public transport is adopted in many European cities. The choice of green, red, yellow, and white and blue colors has been coordinated with the State Automobile Inspectorate. Repainting costs are minimized and will be borne by the owners: the vehicle fleet, the tram and trolleybus depot, and private carriers. All work is carried out on-site. New vehicles replacing old ones, in accordance with concluded agreements, are already of the specified color. For example, the vehicle fleet received 23 green buses this year, and most trolleybuses are white and blue. According to preliminary estimates, repainting cost the tram and trolleybus depot Br30 million. For the Vitebsk vehicle fleet, changing the color of one bus costs Br3 million; by July 1, it will have to repaint 28 buses. The public transport fleet in Vitebsk includes 114 buses, 98 trams, and 97 trolleybuses. -0-
