Four new-type pig breeding complexes will be built in the Vitebsk region
Four new-type pig breeding complexes, each consisting of a breeding farm and a feed mill, will be built in the Vitebsk region. This was announced by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, during a scheduled trip to the Liozno district, where a pig complex is under construction.
Turnkey construction is carried out by the Israeli company AgriGo Ltd., which specializes in the design and construction of high-tech livestock complexes. It will also provide services for the management support of the complex after commissioning.
– As a rule, 30–40 years ago, closed-cycle technological complexes were built, everything there is outdated, including technologies and equipment. In the breeding farms, we will grow young animals up to 30 kg in weight and then distribute them for fattening to other pig complexes in the Vitebsk region. This will reduce the cost of pork, and therefore the final product, whether it is sausage or meat semi-finished products. According to this breeding technology, the weight gain here is planned to be twice as high as we have today. Even specialists find it difficult to comprehend how to achieve an average daily weight gain of 1 kg. The main goal, why we started to engage in the construction of pig breeding farms in pig farming, is to load the capacities of the meat processing plant. A shortage of pork also leads to an increase in the cost of production. If we reduce the price, we will increase the competitiveness of our meat products. We have a five-year plan to put things in order in pig farming. And so far, everything is being done as we planned.planned," – said Nikolai Sherstnev.
A feed mill with a capacity of 20 tons per hour will provide complete compound feeds for all the pigs of the Vitebsk agro-industrial association.
– A second similar complex is being erected near the village of Goryany in the Orsha district, and two more of the same kind need to be built in the western region – in the Glubokoe and Miory districts, – said Nikolai Nikolaevich.
