In the Vitebsk region, three road infrastructure projects will be implemented by 2025

In the Vitebsk region, it is planned to implement three major projects in the region's road infrastructure over five years, as reported at the session of the regional Council of Deputies by Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Belous.

Under the state program "Roads of Belarus" for 2021-2025, the Vitebsk region intends to reconstruct the R46 road on the Lepel - Polotsk section with the construction of a bypass, a bridge over the Western Dvina, and the reconstruction of the existing bridge in Novopolotsk. "The design and estimate documentation for the road is already ready, and for the Polotsk bypass and the new bridge over the Western Dvina, it is being developed. For the restoration of the bridge in Novopolotsk, which was closed in June, Br13 million has been allocated from the republican budget for this year, and the work has begun," noted Vladimir Belous. Also among the major projects in the Vitebsk region within the state program are the upgrading of the Vitebsk - Orsha highway to a first-category road with four lanes and the construction of a bypass of the regional center.

Vladimir Matveev, Director General of Vitebskoblorsstroy State Enterprise, stated that the enterprise manages 3842 roads with a total length of almost 15 thousand km, 45% of which are gravel roads, and 33% are asphalt concrete, cement concrete, and cobblestone paved. Additionally, there are 857 bridges in the region's road network. "The local road network requires significant financial allocations. Br165.8 million were allocated for the maintenance and development of roads in the Vitebsk region in 2017-2020. The operational characteristics of 911 km of roads and 176 linear meters of bridges were improved," noted the Director General. Over four years, the enterprise spent Br11.9 million of its own funds on updating its vehicle fleet, acquiring 260 units of equipment. The equipment wear rate at the beginning of the year was 60%.

Vladimir Matveev added that the state program "Roads of Belarus" for 2021-2025 envisages the repair of over 1.2 thousand km of roads, including at least 25 km using new technologies, as well as the reconstruction of eight road structures with a total length of 141 linear meters. Br374 million are planned for the implementation of the program.
