Civilized conditions for trade in markets must be created in the Vitebsk region - A. Kosinets

November 30, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. Civilized conditions for trade in markets must be created in the Vitebsk region. This was stated today by the chairman of the regional executive committee, Alexander Kosinets, during a meeting of the headquarters for the reconstruction of the Smolensk collective farm market in the regional center, according to a BELTA correspondent. As the chairman of the regional executive committee noted, only 2 out of 25 markets in the region meet the regulatory requirements for such facilities. "It's painful to see people forced to work in slush and frost in the open air, and buyers have to trample through mud while shopping, including for food," said Alexander Kosinets. According to him, the regional consumer union needs to develop a comprehensive program for the development of markets, providing for the construction of modern trading pavilions, the creation of appropriate infrastructure, and the improvement of adjacent territories. The reconstruction of the ChKTUP "Smolensk collective farm market" can serve as a model for the implementation of such projects. The first phase of the project (reconstruction of trade rows of the industrial group, costing about Br9.5 billion) is planned to be commissioned on December 20 of the current year. It will be comfortable to work and shop in the covered pavilion with 250 trading places. The second phase of the project will include the reconstruction of trade rows for food products, including seafood, the organization of a parking lot, warehouses for storing goods, and other infrastructure elements. At the same time, it is necessary to develop an optimal pricing policy when providing trading places to citizens for the sale of agricultural products from their own gardens, and to use opportunities for organizing trade at reduced prices. In general, the management of the regional consumer union should not lose sight of pricing issues, especially for food products, especially since stabilization funds for food have been formed in sufficient quantities in the region. Alexander Kosinets paid special attention to the need for landscaping of urban areas adjacent to the market, including residential areas, and the creation of a network of catering facilities and hotels around the market. All work should be completed by July 1, 2010, he added. In total, in 2010, 4 new markets will appear in the regional center, including the reconstructed Smolensk, the Polotsk market moved to a new location, and the Minsk collective farm market being built from scratch. -0-
