In the Vitebsk region, due to abnormal heat, the water supply to settlements has been taken under special control

Due to the established abnormally hot weather, ensuring water supply to residents of the Vitebsk region, especially in rural areas, must be under special control. This instruction was given to the housing and communal services by the first deputy chairman of the regional executive committee, Gennady Grebnev, following a direct line with the region's population.

Several appeals regarding water supply problems, including those caused by natural factors, were received at the direct telephone line of the regional executive committee from various districts. Gennady Grebnev, during his conversation with people, ordered the district executive committees to ensure water delivery to settlements facing such issues. Additionally, housing and communal services are instructed to respond immediately to citizens' appeals related to malfunctions or other violations of engineering communications, or caused by water supply interruptions, especially for drinking purposes. "We must not forget that water is life, and every person must have access to clean water," said the first deputy chairman of the regional executive committee. He added that if interruptions occur for any reason, it is necessary to deliver water, even if it requires doing so to every rural settlement. While in cities, temporary interruptions might be manageable by purchasing a five-liter container of water from a store, this is often impossible in villages. Therefore, during such a hot period, all services must be focused on maximally assisting people, emphasized Gennady Grebnev.

A total of over 30 calls were received during the direct line. In addition to water supply issues, people raised concerns about the improvement of settlements and land management, including the maintenance of roads and roadside areas. As Gennady Grebnev noted, judging by the fact that only one appeal was received regarding the delay in child benefit payments, local managers have conscientiously fulfilled the chairman of the regional executive committee's instruction to prioritize these issues. The first deputy chairman of the regional executive committee promised the woman who called from the Liozno district to resolve the issue within two working days.

Traditionally, a number of appeals were related to problematic situations during housing privatization, as well as requests for assistance in employment, including for people with disabilities. According to Gennady Grebnev, most calls do not require long processing times and will be resolved within a week. For each appeal, instructions have been given to the responsible services to objectively address the issues and provide a comprehensive response to the applicants.
