Delegates to the All-Belarusian People's Congress were elected from local councils of deputies in the Vitebsk region

В Витебской области избрали делегатов ВНС от местных Советов депутатов
The main issue on the agenda of the third extraordinary session of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies of the 29th convocation was the election of delegates to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly from the local Councils of Deputies of the Vitebsk region.

The session was attended by the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov, First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Anatoly Linevich, Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Sergey Levkovich, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Irina Levkovich.

According to the quota, Vitebsk region must present 44 delegates from Councils of different levels: 9 people from the Regional Council of Deputies, 18 from the basic territorial level, and 17 from the primary territorial level.

– We have reached the final stage of the largest electoral campaign of 2024 – we have successfully held the unified voting day, elected members of the Council of the Republic, and today – delegates to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly from the deputy corps, who will represent all regions of Vitebsk Oblast at the most important political forum, – said Dmitry Demidov. – The elections of delegates were held through broad discussion of their candidacies at joint meetings of executive committees and councils of deputies. All of them are well-known in their regions, possess high professionalism, and have a strong civic stance. They are maximally involved in public processes. It is this involvement and professionalism that are key factors in the selection of delegates to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. This body is new for us, although if we turn to history, it is known that all issues important for society and the state were resolved at the people's assembly. The All-Belarusian People's Assembly will become such a body where key issues for our state will be resolved; in essence, it will be an superstructure over all branches of power, designed, among other things, to stabilize processes occurring in society in the event of any unforeseen situations. Of course, the delegates of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly must be true patriots of their country, people from the land and from the people. Responsibility is placed upon them, and at the same time, it is a great honor to represent Vitebsk Oblast in this legislative body.

Each of the 44 candidates was presented at the session. A discussion took place. The deputies unanimously voted for the proposed candidacies. Dmitry Demidov congratulated the delegates on their election to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly and expressed confidence that they would worthily represent Vitebsk Oblast, defending the interests of the people and the future of the younger generation.

– We believe in you! – said the head of the region's deputy corps in conclusion.

Then, certificates of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Regional Council of Deputies, and letters of gratitude were presented to representatives of various fields of activity for their conscientious work and significant personal contribution to the preparation and conduct of socio-political events.
