In the Vitebsk region, about 4,000 observers will work at polling stations
Residents of the region will be able to make their choice at 768 polling stations throughout the day. 25 so-called closed polling stations will also open their doors for voters today. They are located in sanatoriums, health resorts, rest homes, medical institutions, and one is set up on the territory of a military unit.
Representatives of the OSCE ODIHR, the CIS mission, and national observers are monitoring the parliamentary elections in the Vitebsk region – about 4,000 people in total. They will monitor the voting process until the polling stations close, then be present during the verification and counting of ballots and the tabulation of results.
About 855,000 people are included in the voter lists in the region. Residents of the region need to elect 14 deputies to parliament from 72 candidates. Their number turned out to be the largest in the history of parliamentary elections.
By tradition, trade will be organized at the polling stations, and some will feature a cultural program with performances by creative groups. Also today, various events, competitions, exhibition sales, contests, and other activities will be organized in the districts.
