In the Vitebsk region, there are an average of three vacancies per registered unemployed person, told BELTA correspondent Irina Matveeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee.
The trend of decreasing unemployment continues in the northern region. As of December 1, about 2.2 thousand unemployed people were registered with the labor, employment and social protection authorities in the Vitebsk region. As of January 1, 2018, there were 3.5 thousand people. The regional vacancy bank, declared by employers, contains slightly more than 6.6 thousand offers (at the beginning of the year, there were 4.6 thousand). "Mainly, workers of blue-collar professions are in demand. Car drivers, locksmiths, engineers of various profiles, in the service sector (seamstresses) and trade (salespersons) are in demand. The agricultural sector needs veterinarians, zootechnicians, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, tractor drivers, and there is also a need for qualified specialists in the healthcare sector (doctors, nurses)," said the deputy chairperson of the committee. When searching for a job, situations arise when a person, for some reason, cannot find employment in their specialty or their education does not allow it. "To solve this issue, we offer to improve qualifications or retrain for in-demand vacancies. Those who wish undergo courses, the duration of which is from 1 to 8 months depending on the vacancy, and start working in a new specialty. Very often, this happens with a guarantee of employment: future employees are trained for a specific employer. Now, we will train cooks for one organization. In total, this year, more than 1 thousand residents of the region have mastered new and in-demand professions in the labor market," noted Irina Matveeva. In total, with the assistance of employment services, 21.3 thousand people were employed in the region over 11 months of this year, including 11.4 thousand unemployed. In addition, another 183 residents of the region receivedгосударственную субсидию для организации своего дела. В настоящее время в области действует 26 комиссий по содействию занятости населения. Информация об их деятельности, графики работы комиссий размещены на сайтах райисполкомов и администраций районов Витебска. Заседания комиссий проводятся не реже двух раз в месяц.
